Negeri Sembilan Detects 32 Unregistered Homestay Businesses

EREMBAN, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government has detected 32 operators offering homestay programmes who have not registered their business as such, State Tourism, Unity, Culture, Arts, Heritage and Malay Customs Committee Chairman Datuk Mohammad Razi Kail said Saturday.

He said it was feared that such businesses could tarnish the good name of the genuine homestay programmes as they did not adhere to the guidelines set by the Tourism Ministry.

Only eight homestay businesses were registered with the Negeri Sembilan office of the ministry, he said, and named them as the Pelegong Homestay in Seremban, Gemas Homestay (Tampin), Klawang Homestay (Jelebu), Batang Nyamor Homestay (Rembau), Laman Bangkinang Homestay (Kuala Pilah), Lonek Homestay and F'Best Homestay (Jempol) and Pachitan Homestay (Port Dickson).

"Last year, the homestay businesses in the state garnered revenue of RM1.03 million from about 12,000 visitors," he said.
