Depending on where you are, you might like to call it a cabriolet, but the newly unveiled 2012 BMW 650i has some exciting guts. The new 650i boasts the automaker’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 sending 400 horsepower (peaking at 6,400 rpm) and 450 pound-feet of torque (from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm) through an eight speed automatic or six-speed manual.
Power is of course sent to the rear, giving you a a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph.
Disappointingly for me, BMW has continued its tradition of a cloth top which does its job in 19 seconds and closed in a claimed 24 seconds up to speeds of 25 mph. A new optional full-color heads-up display complete with 3D graphics and the new iDrive 10.2-inch screen are part of the package. Availability wise, the new Bimmer should start selling in the coming spring.
