Fears Grow As Japan Races To Cool Reactors

International energy authorities have voiced concerns over the deteriorating situation at the tsunami-hit Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.

Workers at the stricken Fukushima 1 plant at Daiichi are desperately trying to prevent the fuel rods of several damaged reactors from overheating and ultimately melting down.

Japanese military helicopters have attempted to dump tons of seawater on reactor 3 hours to cool down the fuel rods inside the core.

The International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) said that four water drops were also made after midnight in an attempt to prevent the reactor overheating.
