Libya: Colonel Gaddafi Speaks On State TV

The statement, which he made over the phone to a television presenter in the town of Zawiya, marks the third time Gaddafi has spoken out since uprisings began.

Fierce fighting raged in the town between his forces and rebels as he spoke.

In the rambling speech, Gaddafi blamed a "bunch of youths" for the protests and said they were being given drugs in their coffee.
