As Libya is bombarded from the air by the Coalition, fierce fighting between the rebels and Gaddafi's forces is continuing on the ground.
As we travelled from the rebel stronghold of Benghazi to one of the frontlines near the town of Ajdabiyah, we passed the charred wreckage of Colonel Gadaffi's forces - mile after mile.
While we followed the rebels on the road, one-hour west of Benghazi and more than 700 miles to Tripoli, you could see the smoke rising from the fighting ahead.
Here, government troops have been halted by airstrikes but they are still terrorising towns and villages and telling people they will kill them unless they lay down their weapons.
The rebels are trying to liberate communities as they try to advance westwards, but along this road they have come under attack and they are being pushed back.
There's no hope of them advancing on the Tripoli yet.
Even in Benghazi it is far from safe. There is still tension and it feels like a war zone at night as Gadaffi loyalists continue to challenge the uprising.
Even with international military intervention, it is clear the rebels face a long fight.
