R.I.P. Palm: A History of the Brand that Changed Smartphones and PDAs Forever

HP has announced a slew of new WebOS-based smartphones and tablets, all poised to compete with the iPhone 4, the iPad, and the many Android devices on the market. Sadly, these new products are missing an important part of their legacy: the Palm name. Before the HP Pre 3 and the TouchPad, there was the Palm Treo and the PalmPilot. Before WebOS, there was PalmOS. And before HP phased out the name, there was Palm, Inc.
