UPDATED: Karzai: NATO Raids Killed 50 Afghan Civilians

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has accused NATO troops of killing about 50 civilians during recent operations near the Pakistan border.
In a statement Sunday, Mr. Karzai condemned the killings, which government officials say took place in eastern Kunar province during the past week.
Earlier Sunday, Kunar's provincial governor, Fazlullah Wahidi, said NATO raids had killed 63 people, most of them civilians. Local officials said the NATO operations involved ground and air attacks in remote Ghazi Abad district.
NATO said it is aware of the allegations and has dispatched a team to investigate. It cited video showing that coalition forces killed 36 armed men in a remote valley in Kunar province, but a spokesman said NATO had no reports of civilian deaths.
Separately, Afghan officials have raised the death toll of a Taliban attack on a Jalalabad bank to 40. At least 73 others were wounded.
Seven militants dressed in security uniforms and armed with guns and suicide vests stormed a branch of Kabul Bank on Saturday. Authorities say some of the attackers detonated their vests while others opened fire.
Officials say the casualties included civilians and security personnel who were collecting their wages. The bank handles the salaries of Afghan police and military.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
